Industrial Design
Engineering Aesthetics & Innovation
This specialization empowers students to sculpt the tangible world, designing user-centric products, furniture, appliances, and transportation systems that enhance efficiency, ergonomics, and aesthetics. By mastering materials, advanced manufacturing, and digital prototyping, our designers craft solutions that harmonize functionality with artistic brilliance, addressing real-world challenges through innovative design.
Communication Design
We cultivate storytellers who command the language of visual communication. Through graphic design, branding, typography, UX/UI, motion graphics, and multimedia storytelling, students learn to create compelling narratives that shape perceptions, engage audiences, and communicate ideas effectively across diverse print, digital, and interactive platforms.
Fashion Design
Blending cultural insight with technological prowess, this specialization explores the intersection of fashion, culture, and sustainability. Students engage in apparel and textile design, material innovation, and market-driven aesthetics, preparing them to redefine fashion through conscious design and creative entrepreneurship in couture, retail, and global fashion industries.
Lifestyle & Accessory Design
This specialization encompasses personal and home accessories, including jewellery, footwear, bags, home décor, and wellness products. By merging traditional craftsmanship with digital innovation, students design experiences that enrich daily life, crafting functional and aesthetically refined lifestyle products that elevate both form and function.
Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des. program at KLS GIT Department of Design must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
Applications for the academic year 2025-26 are open to candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2024–25 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE, or equivalent.
- Completion of a 10+2 / Diploma or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Candidates from all academic streams (Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) are eligible to apply.
Minimum Marks:
A minimum aggregate of 45% in the qualifying examination and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Candidates must fill out the online application form on the official KLSGIT Department of Design website (www.git.edu).
Entrance Examination:
- Applicants appearing through CET will follow KEA’s examination schedule and guidelines.
- Candidates applying from non-CET / equivalent streams will undergo an aptitude test conducted by the Admission Committee of KLSGIT Department of Design.
Portfolio Submission:
- Non-CET candidates are encouraged to submit a portfolio showcasing their creative and artistic works.
Personal Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview to assess their aptitude and motivation for pursuing design education.
Application Procedure
- The application form will be available online on the institution’s official website.
- Candidates must submit the completed application form along with the required documents and application fee before the specified deadline.
Selection Procedure
Admissions will be based on merit, which may include:
- Scores obtained in a national-level design aptitude test (such as UCEED, DAT, NIFT, NATA, or KLS_GIT_DOD DAT) or an institutional entrance examination.
- Academic performance in the qualifying examination.
- Portfolio evaluation and/or personal interview, as applicable.
Reservation of Seats
- Reservations for SC/ST/OBC and other categories will be as per the prevailing norms of the Government of Karnataka and VTU.
- A certain percentage of seats may be reserved for:
- NRI/Management quota candidates.
Counselling and Seat Allotment
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for counselling sessions.
- Seat allotment will be conducted based on merit, preferences, and seat availability.
- Candidates must confirm their admission by paying the admission fee within the stipulated time.
Intake Capacity
- The annual intake for the B. Des. program will be determined based on AICTE approval and institutional infrastructure.
- A maximum intake of 30 students per Specialization and 120 students per batch is recommended for effective learning outcomes.
