The GIT Library and Information Center has been designed to meet the information needs of the institution’s undergraduates, postgraduates, research scholars, faculty, and staff members. It has a collection of 116802 Volumes and 33083 titles that support teaching & research and development. The demands of the ever-growing research areas in multiple disciplines are being catered to with the help of the latest volumes and e-resources.
The entire collection has been bar-coded and fully automated by using the Koha Integrated Library Management Software. The Library offers many services to our patrons like Automated Circulation System, Online Public Access Catalogue, Online Purchase Suggestion Database Orientation, Patron Management, Inter Library Loan Facility, Government Book Bank Facility, and Special encouragement for the top 3 students in all branches, News Paper Clipping and Selective Dissemination of Information and also recently officially released & added new service as a Mobile App.
The Library has a membership to VTU Consortium for E-Resources. It is subscribed to 7400 National and International peer-reviewed e-Journals access through IEEE Xplore, Springer, Elsevier, Emerald, Knimbus, Taylor and Francis, and Sententia database. It also has access to 66009 e-Books from IEEE Xplore, Springer, Elsevier, Pearson, There is IP-based and unlimited access to all E-Resources. The Library enabled cloud-based remote access service to all VTU-Consortium E-Resources with the Knimbus platform to the institute.
The Library has an active institutional membership in the DELNET organization. The DELNET provides Inter Library Loan and Document Delivery services for books and journal articles to its member institutes. The DELNET has connected with more than 5000 institutional, public, and special libraries in India and around the globe.
GIT Library Mobile app can run on Android and Apple smartphones, tablets, and other devices; this app will not ask patrons to enter passwords and it automatically login into the patron account, etc.
