The autonomous undergraduate program under VTU, Belagavi, is conducted by a team of highly qualified, experienced, passionate, and dynamic faculty members. This premier engineering college, the only one offering Aeronautical Engineering in the North Karnataka region, stands out for its hands-on experience with advanced laboratories spanning various aeronautical streams, including aerodynamics, aircraft materials and structures, propulsion, aircraft systems, controls and instruments, and avionics and also Industry-oriented labs and elective courses cover topics such as flight mechanics, AMRO, vibration and aero elasticity, and ATC. These facilities are designed to reflect current advancements and enable students to undertake applied research projects. Students are exposed to cutting-edge technologies such as UAVs and MAVs. In addition, there are certification courses on branch-specific subjects, along with English and German language courses. The distinguished board of studies features experts from prestigious research institutes and industries, including GTRE, GE Aerospace, HAL, IISc, Bharat Forge, and IITs. The college has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HAL Management Academy, offering an elective on aircraft systems, testing, and manufacturing processes, complemented by hands-on training at HAL Bangalore. Further enriching the curriculum, MoUs with industries like LATECOERE, GTTC, and La Fondation Dassault Systèmes provide additional learning opportunities.
The department actively supports students’ regular participation in various competitions and events hosted by IITs, NITs, and universities worldwide. Students are given an exclusive six-month period to undertake internships and industrial or research projects. Each semester, industry experts deliver talks on specific domains to enhance learning. The active student chapter, VAYUPUTRAS, Space Club and IEEE AESS chapters organizes various aeromodelling activities.
