The center of astrophysics at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology was established on March 18, 2023 in association with Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru. The center offers interdisciplinary areas of study to engineers and engage in outreach activities.
The center of astrophysics has following facilities
- 10-inch Schimdt-Cassegrain Meade telescope
- CMOS imager
- Optec SSP-3 photometer
- Computation facility

- Open elective course in Introduction to Astronomy to engineering students
- Certification course in Astronomy in association with Indian Institute of Astrophysics

The center offers research opportunities in the following areas to student
- Relativistic thermodynamics
- 21-cm radio detection to measure galactic rotation
The center of astrophysics has a student body of astronomy club. Through astronomy club, the following outreach activities are executed
- Pratikruti – a model donation event for students from schools
- Star gazing sessions for students from schools
- Star gazing sessions for astronomy club members
