Freshers’ Welcome and Orientation Program – MCA Batch 2025

The Department of MCA at KLS GIT warmly welcomed the incoming batch of students with an inspiring and well-organized Freshers’ Welcome and Orientation Program on 17th January 2025. The event was a perfect blend of insightful sessions, engaging activities, and an introduction to the academic and professional opportunities awaiting the students.
The Program Flow
The event commenced with an Invocation Song setting a serene and welcoming tone for the day. This was followed by a Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Jayashri B. Madalgi, Head of the Department, who extended her heartfelt greetings to the freshers and emphasized the importance of embracing this new academic journey with enthusiasm and commitment.
The Lamp Lighting Ceremony and Floral Welcome added a symbolic touch, signifying the quest for knowledge and enlightenment.
Prof. Swarooprani Manoor introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Manjunath Nandi, an esteemed alumnus of the 2008–2011 batch and Architect Team Lead at Cognizant. Mr. Nandi’s address was one of the highlights of the event, where he shared his journey from the MCA department to becoming a successful professional in the tech industry. His words of encouragement motivated the students to dream big and leverage every opportunity during their time at KLS GIT.
The Vote of Thanks by Prof. Nilesh Anvekar concluded the formal inaugural session.
Sessions to Empower Freshers
After a refreshing Tea Break, the program resumed with several informative sessions:
- Address by Controller of Examination: Dr. Umesh Kulkarni provided a comprehensive overview of examination protocols and evaluation processes, ensuring students understood the academic expectations.
- Curriculum and Outcome-Based Education (OBE): Prof. M. S. Emmi explained the structure and benefits of the MCA curriculum, emphasizing how OBE fosters industry-ready skills.
- Project & Internship Opportunities: Dr. P. B. Barthakur guided students on the importance of internships and projects in building practical expertise.
- Training, Placements, and Certifications: Prof. A. N. Nazare detailed the extensive placement training programs and certifications available to prepare students for competitive job markets.
- Introduction to ACA and Alumni Connect: Prof. S. H. Manoor introduced the Association of Computer Applications (ACA) initiatives, highlighting the active alumni network and its contributions to student growth.
Interactive ACA Activities
Post-lunch, the freshers participated in fun and engaging activities organized by the ACA team. These activities were designed to help students bond with peers, explore their creativity, and feel more at home in their new environment.
